In addition to directly assisting clients to solve business problems, Bailit Health Purchasing staff conduct research and author publications to assist the broader community of health and human services purchasers and regulators. A sample of published articles and reports is available below. Michael Bailit of Bailit Health Purchasing was quoted extensively in a recent news story on the National Conference of State Legislatures web site. The article entiled 'Paying For Performance In Medicaid: States Are Demanding Accountability' can be found here. Bailit helped the Minnesota Department of Human Services compose a legislative report with recommendations for generating cost savings. An April 12, 2005 Minneapolis Star Tribune editorial described the legislative report in the following manner: "The Pawlenty administration has finished [a] study and returned with a set of sensible and promising recommendations. They won't produce large savings in the current, fraught budget cycle. But they hold the potential to save large sums over the long run while making health care more effective. As lawmakers pick and choose their way through the governor's budget for the next two years, they should adopt the recommendations." "Most of these techniques...would take time to prove and bring up to scale. But they're an improvement on the tools Minnesota has used in recent years - squeezing money out of providers and leaving more patients uninsured - and they represent a valuable new way of thinking about a problem that won't go away."
