Bailit Health staff is comprised of a close–working team of senior consultants. Multiple team members are involved on most projects. The team is complemented, on an as-needed basis, by a cadre of specialty subject matter experts with whom we have worked for years.
Matt joined Bailit Health in 2021. His current work includes supporting states on initiatives related to cost growth targets, behavioral health care, and quality measurement with particular attention to health equity. Matt also works on multiple Medicaid managed care projects in relation to health equity, social determinants of health, and quality review. Additionally, Matt contributes to the evaluation of programs that address substance use disorder, care coordination for youth at risk of out-of-home placement, and Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases.
Matt came to Bailit Health after working with Partners in Health on the Community Tracing Collaborative in Massachusetts. While there, Matt worked alongside the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and local health departments in supporting various universities in the state in order to keep their campuses as safe as possible during COVID-19. He also spent much of his time assisting Spanish speakers across Massachusetts during their isolation and quarantine periods. Matt served on a work group to develop solutions to social needs that jeopardized the wellbeing of individuals and communities during the pandemic.
Matt previously conducted research with the Harvard Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation (CHLPI) as part of the Massachusetts Food is Medicine State Plan. Matt conducted interviews with consumers receiving various medical nutrition interventions to understand the current service landscape and learn what was working well, and where things could be improved. Matt presented his findings to State Plan stakeholders and produced a report that, when combined with research done by CHLPI staff with payers and providers, would provide valuable insight for future state-level policy decisions.
Matt earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Medicine, Health, and Society from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Nutrition from the Tufts School of Medicine Public Health and Professional Degree Program.
